GCSE English

There are two GCSEs which can be awarded in English; Language and Literature. Students may study either over one year or both over two years.

English Language
The course, which is suitable for students who have reached Key Stage 3 and upwards, is designed to carefully prepare students for examination at GCSE level. This results in one AQA (A) GCSE in English award. This single English Language GCSE is studied over a 9-month period.

English Literature
The course, which is suitable for students aged 12 and upwards, is designed to carefully prepare students for examination at GCSE level. This results in one AQA (A) GCSE in English Literature award. The single English Literature GCSE is studied over a 9 month period, to follow on from the single English GCSE course. It is suitable for those who wish to study English Literature in more depth.

• AQA Syllabus A
• Courses taught in small groups of similar ability
• 9 months or 21 month course - two 2 hour lessons each week
